Police issue advice after Asian gold jewellery and watches stolen during burglaries
Leicestershire Constabulary has issued advice after a number of burglaries where jewellery has been stolen.
Incidents have occurred across the county where homes have been broken into and thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and items of sentimental value have been taken.
During one incident in Allerton Drive, Leicester around 8.15pm on Saturday January 7 a gold Rolex watch, a Brietling watch, an Emporio Armani wrist watch, cuff links, various makes of aftershave and perfume, 22 carat gold diamond ring and a 22 carat gold Rolex logo ring were amongst a number of items stolen when the safe was taken.
The victim of this incident is offering a substantial reward for any information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible and the recovery of the stolen items.
If you have any information about this incident or the stolen items please contact PC 1887 Adam Goodenough, crime reference number CB/00171/12-3 refers.
Sometime between 2pm and 6pm on Sunday January 22 a house in Harborough Road, Oadby was broken into and thousands of pounds worth of Asian gold jewellery was stolen including bracelets, earrings, rings, bangles and chains.
Officers carrying out enquiries locally and identified that there were a group of men possibly of Eastern European appearance carrying out facia and guttering work in the area and would like to identify and trace them as they may be able to assist with the investigation.
It is believed that they may have been using two vehicles, a Transit type van and a small Astra type van.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Constable 1434 Derek Johnson, crime reference number LW/00232/12-0 refers.
A rare watch was stolen during a burglary at a property in Beggars Lane, Leicester Forest East sometime between 2.30pm on Saturday January 21 and 10.30pm on Sunday January 22.
The Rolex watch was amongst other items of Asian gold jewellery stolen during the incident. The mens watch has a stainless steel and 18 carat gold bracelet, with a self winding oyster perpetual mechanical movement, a Rolex champagne dial with ten diamond dot hour markers, crown on the 12 and date on the three.
If anyone has come across a similar watch or has any information about the incident they should contact Detective Constable 1308 Nick Robbins, crime reference number LB/00401/12-1 refers.
On Saturday February 4 between 3.30pm and 11.30pm a burglary occurred at a house in Saxthorpe Road and a 150 gram gold Royal family commemorative coin was amongst the items stolen.
Other items stolen included a limited edition Omega Seamaster watch, a Raymond Weil dress watch with the words Parsifal on the face, a Tissot watch and 22 carat gold jewellery including a necklace, a bracelet and earrings.
Anyone with any information about this incident or the stolen items is asked to contact PC 0286 Kev Jarman, crime reference number CK/00625/12-2 refers.
Detective Inspector Ant Dales, said: We ask that members of the public to think about the security of their homes and avoid keeping high value items at the property, the safest place to store items are in banks or other secure facilities
We would also advice people to photograph each item to increase the chances of identification and ensure that high value jewellery is insured. Safes should be bolted to a wall and we would urge people to register their jewellery with the www.immobilise.com, which is a free service and helps the police prove an item has been stolen and it also increases the chances of the items being returned to the rightful owner.
I would like to urge the public to contact us if they can help solve any of these crimes or assist in the recovery of the stolen items.
Anyone with any information about the incidents is asked to contact the relevant officer on 101*, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free** and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
* Calls to 101 cost 15p for the entire call from both mobile phones and landlines
** Please note some mobile phone service providers may charge for this call.
