Travelling treasure takes Hallaton to the masses
Photo Opportunity: Children and staff at Glen Hills Primary School will be available to be photographed with the travelling display on Friday, May 13th at 12.30pm.

A roving exhibition on the Hallaton Treasure has visited schools, libraries and care homes in the last few months, and has now helped the famous find reach 100,000 people.
Entitled "Consumed", the travelling display compares replicas of the Iron Age artefacts, found in a field in Leicestershire eight years ago, with modern items such as Prada shoes and mobile phones, and asks whether consumerism is a recent trend or a much older idea.
Since launching in late 2009 it has visited 15 venues which would normally host museum displays and has been seen by more than 22,000 people.
The exhibition, which is supported by grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Art Fund among others, is currently at Glen Hills Primary School in Glen Parva, where Teacher Sue Wrighton has seen how the treasure has fascinated pupils.
This display is of particular interest to the children as it's linked to a local archaeological find," she said, "and its also great to have objects to look at and study first hand."
Longcliffe Nursing home in Loughborough, Rearsby Residential Home, three other schools and ten libraries have also borrowed it, and other similar community venues can apply to have the display, which is part of the Southeast Leicestershire Treasure Project.
Mr David Sprason, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Adults & Communities, said:
100,000 have benefited in some way from Southeast Leicestershire Treasure Project so far. It is a fantastically wide-ranging project reaching young and old alike.
