Copies of a nostalgic calendar designed to promote personal safety will be given away free of charge next week.

Leicestershire Neighbourhood Watch Association will be handing out the calendars from a stall at Market Harboroughs Indoor Market on Tuesday 3 November from 9am -1pm.

Further copies will be given out from a marquee in the Market Place at Leicester Market on Friday, 6th November.

The Leicestershire Neighbourhood Watch Association has produced 40,000 of the calendars. They contain nostalgic views of Leicestershire in times past, together with messages about how you can stay safe and secure.

The calendars have been supported by a range of charities and public organisations, including Leicestershire Constabulary.

Marion Lewis, who is vice-chair of Market Harborough Neighbourhood Watch and chair of the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network for England and Wales, said they had already had over 200 requests for the calendars, which were being held up pending the outcome of the postal strike.

She added: These calendars have proved hugely popular with our elderly residents.

Inspector Rich Keenan from Leicestershire Constabulary said: This calendar is an excellent product which provides clear and common sense advice to those who may be vulnerable to bogus callers and other offenders.

Next weeks distribution in Market Harborough falls in Not In My Neighbourhood Week, when a range of organisations will be promoting their work combating crime and anti-social behaviour.

To receive a calendar, contact Marion Lewis by phoning 0116 222 2222 x3871, or email marion.lewis@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk . They are free of charge.
