Dog pines for her missing owner
Martin Shane Jefford
The black Labrador dog left behind when its owner went missing is pining for his return, according to the people caring for her.
Jet was with Martin Shane Jefford when he visited friends in Earl Shilton on Friday February 20. For some reason Mr Jefford left Jet in his van and failed to return.
The fact that he didnt return for his beloved companion is what alerted people to his disappearance.
Martin has now been missing for over 10 days and police are increasingly concerned for his welfare.
Sergeant Gaynor Turner, from Harborough local policing unit, said: Its clear that Jet is missing her owner terribly and his family and friends are very concerned for his welfare. Those people that knew him found it very strange that hed go anywhere and leave his dog behind.
He didnt live in Earl Shilton, but was visiting friends there and Jet was with him. Were obviously very concerned that hes not made contact with anyone for well over a week. Weve been making a number of enquiries in the Earl Shilton area where he was last seen and have been speaking to people who knew him to try and establish where he might be.
Martin has a son in Canada who has also expressed concern about where his dad may be. Wed urge Martin to please make contact to let us know he is safe and well so that we can reassure family and friends.
Martin is 49-years-old and is described as white and of medium build. Its believed he was wearing light-blue faded denim jeans, a dark blue zip-up top which had Keythorpe Lock logo on it. He may have changed his clothes since then.
He has a recent head injury which required stitches which we believe are still in place. Anyone who knows where Martin is or thinks they have seen him to contact the duty sergeant at Harborough LPU on Leicester (0116) 222 2222.
