Northamptonshire man dies after A6 collision

Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision on the A6 in Market Harborough.

The incident happened at about 4.25pm on Tuesday January 1, 2009 and involved two vehicles, a silver Volkswagen Golf and a silver Audi A6.

The driver of the Golf, Mr Philip Ashley Stokes (77) from Kettering in Northampton, was taken to Kettering General Hospital, with serious injuries. He died on Monday January 26, 2009.

The driver of the Audi received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. A passenger in the Golf also received minor injuries and was taken to Kettering General Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable David Sharpe, who is investigating the incident, said: "The Golf was joining the A6 from Little Bowden to travel in the direction of Kettering and the Audi was travelling in the direction of Market Harborough when the collision occurred.

"I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles beforehand. If you have any information regarding this incident, please get in touch."

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact DC 1291 David Sharpe in the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0116 2222222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1291.
